Myriad Global. Alex Stanton. James Thompson.

Word is in from another company which is not paying freelancers for their work.

This one goes by the name of Myriad Global (“global media production experts“), a somewhat grand claim for a set up currently seen scrabbling around trying to retrieve loose coins from between the sofa cushions to meet its bills.

One freelancer completed some work for this lot in October and has spent the many months since trying to get them to honour their end of the deal. This is something which Myriad Global appears in no rush to do, suggesting it was the responsibility of their clients to pay up before they would then pass the money on to the freelancer.

Blaming clients for failing to honour the deals you have made with your workers is not something a particularly well-ordered or ethical company is wont to do of course, but neither Managing Directors Alex Stanton and James Thompson seem to be in any kind of rush to resolve the situation.

When asked when this freelancer might expect to get paid, neither were overly bothered to commit themselves, happy to hang on to the cash at their convenience. Questions to the accounts department also went unanswered. All in all a pretty shabby way to treat people who have give their time and labour to the company in the expectation that it would keep its side of the bargain.

It seems that the next best step is to ask the company’s clients directly what is going on, as well as for freelancers to take out legal claims. Meanwhile, in terms of anyone else considering working for or using the company’s services in the future, the message is clear. Don’t.
