but why do you write such sniveling little letters to employers, as if you're pretending to be a lawyer, trapping them into an admission of guilt... you get the same response each time .. do you want the job or not, who the fuck are you etc and then have to explain that you're an interested freelancer... blah blah blah

and then posting it here as if it's a grown up forensic trail, just like on teevee....

why not just tell them straight out who you are and why you're writing, offer them a chance to explain themselves and put things right.

although ignorance is no excuse etc.. many of these people seem to be genuinely un-aware of what a bona fide work experience or internship scheme is.

it's entirely possible that with your sneaky approach, you're merely annoying people and preventing them from taking your campaign seriously.

I think that if FF were to ask outright they'd give a very different answer. In fact, they'd probably lie: they'll have plenty of applicants, so they'd simply fob off anyone else.

The exchanges are very revealing about the attitudes of the "employers" too, and I find it very helpful when judging their reaction to the "reveal". There are some whose assurances about paying the minimum wage you believe, and there are some you don't, and I make those judgements based on their responses up to that point.

I agree nulo, that's exactly what happened with Tea House theatre - which seems to have been removed now. All that happened was some cat and mouse game with some youngster who was clearly unaware of his obligations.
Just lots of 'you should be paying' and him saying 'No I shouldn't', some on this forum casting personal aspersions, which ensured he turned off, and then in the end he left, none the wiser as to why he should pay.

If all you want to do is string 'em along until a reveal then for fucks sake write a novel but if you want to get people to pay and own up to their responsibilities then you need to educate them and not just try and trip them up.

The rogues will never pay, but the naive need to be educated - not teased.

Hi nulo, I have actually approached numerous people in numerous different ways about this over the past 5 years, and this seems to be the best way to actually get some progress.

The only other thing to say is that your opinions are actually of no interest to me whatsoever and would not make me reconsider, do anything different or indeed notice or care that you even exist on this planet.

Hope that helps.

And sworkinnint, as far as you are concerned, when I actually see you do anything more active than simply utter a prolonged whine, I'll be sure to listen to your opinions too.

I've seen others list their achievements on here, all that happened was a lot of derision, its happening now. You're not interested in what others are doing, unless they are doing it your way. Constantly attacking the person and not the underlying issue - so tiresome.

If you can't take objective criticism fair enough - its obvious the Tea House guy was removed from the Sweat team because someone here got it wrong.

Have the humility to understand there is more than one way to achieve your goals and maybe a change in approach is sometimes necessary. You're doing a good job - maybe you can do it better and we can not lose the like of Tea House theatre but bring them with us.

More than happy to hear and listen to many other opinions on here, it's just your drivel I have no interested in. Do feel free to approach these things in your own way though, and do feel free to let us know how things go if you ever decide to do more than alight here and drone on tediously.

Sworkinnit, you turn up here and wade in spouting inappropriate shit without the background knowledge to do so.

As a regular for 1 1/2 years, the threads posted publicly by FF are usually highlighting people looking to profit on the back of others and not collaborative enthusiast film-makers as you suggest, unless it is an unscrupulous profiteer masquerading as an innocent film-maker. The same names appear again and again in various guises and exploiters use the same excuses time and again. People contacted are given quite a long period to respond before correspondence (or lack of it) is posted publicly. The real exploiters go a little crazy whereas those who make a genuine mistake / are naive mostly go off to investigate and do the right thing. And the plain arrogant, well they arrogantly blunder onwards anyway.

Film Fan has achieved some pretty amazing results such as forcing some large indies and even the Arts Council to re-appraise their policies. That means companies will be paying their junior staff at least the NMW. What we should all be saying is, thank you FF for your exceptional and prolonged motivation to fight this virulent wrongdoing.

What I am trying to say is study the form of the forum before you go blundering in and making inappropriate comments and getting people's backs up, especially in an area such as Sweat postings. Constructive comments, I am sure, would be welcomed once you comprehend the Sweat Team's work more fully.

Erm.. it's a bit gay sometimes. But worthy, admirable even, so on balance, I do not object. In fact I support.

So...erm.. perhaps, on reflection I should have just not bothered with the whole thing.

So then.

Bye.
