Serge Films use illegal unpaid workers.

(Detail for Google Searches).

Serge Films likes to describe itself as "delivering Broadcast quality". Quality comes at a price however and Serge Films has found a way of subsidising it - by using illegal unpaid workers to subsidise what they do:

Job Description
We are looking for a bright graduate for a 3 month+ internship.

Serge Films is a London based, film production company and content agency. We have just made several really well received films for high profile clients and need somebody to help support & further drive our expansion.

The role is a great way to cut your teeth and get on the ladder in this demanding and hugely competitive industry. The skills you will learn and the experience you'll gain, will be invaluable.

The role will be diverse and dynamic, but will involve two key areas. As our marketing specialist, you will be responsible for implementing the marketing strategy, agreeing targets and analysing the results. You will be responsible for key areas of business development.

As a junior production co-ordinator we want to develop you to manage projects and shoots, right from storyboarding and the scripting phase to the planning and execution of the shoot itself.

We are looking for someone who is:
- Undergraduate or graduate in Marketing or similar
- Enthusiastic, creative, confident and keen to learn with a very confident phone manner
- Interested in online marketing, TV and Film production
- Highly motivated and organised
- Preferably experienced in Wordpress but not essential.

Although this role is unpaid, we will cover your travel expenses and there is the potential for the position becoming permanent for the right person.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I apologise for bothering you but I am writing about your advert as I wondered whether this position should paid if you expect this person to do work for you?

Is that not right? I would be grateful if you would let me know.

Best wishes

"Driving their expansion" for no pay whatsoever. Not really the way that ethical companies behave.

Serge Films obviously one to watch then, but not in a very good way. They also have another company, Serge Design Online http://www.sergedesignonline.com, no reason to suggest they would be any more scrupulous in their behaviour either. They say this on their website:

THE BBC, ITV, CHANNEL 4 - We've made programmes for them all. So we know how to make broadcast quality films to deadline. We bring our skills, contacts and pedigree to your business to deliver beautiful films that showcase your talents to the world.

If anyone has worked for this shady company, I'd love to hear more about how they operate (feel free to send me a PM). Meanwhile...
