Andy Mundy-Castle. Stephen Lloyd-Jackson use illegal low paid workers.
(Detail for Google Searches).
Andy Mundy-Castle is making an "ambitious feature film" -
ROMEO IS DYING. He has a distribution deal and a budget - but he fancies making just that little bit more oin the deal by using illegal low paid workers on his shoots:
Vacancy: DIT/Clapper
Employer: SAR Productions
Location: London
Duration: 1 month, starts 20/07/10
Payment is on a lo/no/deferred basis. [note on unpaid jobs]
We require a Digital Assistant who may double up as a clapper in this small sized film with big ambitions. You must have knowledge of Canon 5D/7D workflows and comfortable with media managing, a knowledge of post production would be an advantage. The role will be quite integrated.
Background:
A dark psychological drama about possessive love and tragic passion. When a city financier is told that he is HIV positive he takes us on a distressing journey that unveils the last 12 months of his life. His demons, the lovers and his fiance Carla. Carla and his unborn child, have their world turned upside down, as David takes us on a pernicous journey of the skeletons in his closet. He thought he had everything but nothing that would potentially kill him.

Dear Andy,
I apologise for bothering you but I am writing about your advert as I wondered whether this position should paid if you expect this person to do work for you?
Is that not right? I would be grateful if you would let me know.
Best wishesIt states the expenses at the bottom of the email you replied to.
best
AndyHi Andy, thanks for that but the pay says £400 + expenses for 25 days - surely the Minimum Wage applies and it should be paid more than this?No reply
Doesn't this apply Andy?No reply. So I write to Director Stephen Lloyd Jackson (
info@therulersfilm.com). No reply either but Andy Mundy-Castle then got back to me:
Hi
I have replied several times now, the minimum wage does apply. Can i help you any further and what would you like? We are trying to make a film here and really wasting time dealing with these kind of queries with people that are not involved with our process is not top of our list of priorities.
Andy Hi Andy - I don't want to waste your time but you say the minimum wage does apply yet you are advertising a position at a rate
that is less than that - £400 for 25 days work. Surely if the minimum wage applies you should be paying at least £5.80 an hour?We have employed someone at an agreed rate that meets satisfaction, so how can i help you now?
what would you really like?
ABut if the rate is as given in your advert you are employing someone at less than the Minimum Wage. Surely you would not wish to break the regulations in this way? Can't you pay someone what the law says that you should pay them?No reply.
Would this be possible Andy?No reply. It seems that these two chancers are really not interested in little things like paying the legal minimum to their workers. Not when they have their mind full with making their ambitious feature film. This film is being distributed by Cornerstone Media International Ltd (
http://www.cornerstonemediaint.com) who are also clearly happy to promote a film made with illegal unpaid workers. Doesn't sound like the kind of behaviour that is usually adopted by an ethical business organisation. If anyone has details of whether Andy Mundy-Castle is using workers for less than the Minimum Wage on any other work, please let me know. Meanwhile:
