David Svorcik.

Word in of a Producer called David Svorcik, currently advertising work which pays less than the legal minimum.

The role is for a 'helping hand Floor Runner' from Monday 23rd October until Friday 3rd November... for £50 a day, which apparently “covers expenses”.

David has clearly not come across the Minimum Wage regulations at any point in his travels in the film business, for if he had he would know that all work must be paid and throwing £50 for “expenses” to someone does not remotely cover it.

By all account this individual is also advertising a number of other positions for what he calls “exposure credits”, a payment form which is unlikely to pass muster if presented to a landlord to settle the rent due, or at Tesco for bread.

Freelancers should of course keep a wide berth around anyone who behaves in such an unprofessional way - failure to keep within the law in terms of remuneration often means there’s a fair bit of skirting around other regulations along the way too, health and safety being not the least important of them.

Usual motif applies then - David Svorcik: Freelancers Beware!
